Sermon Podcasting Gear and Setups
Jul 27th, 2006 by Lyle Melick
I would like to hear about what setups you use to podcast your pastor’s sermons. I’d especially like to hear about any challenges you’ve faced and how you overcame them. File format settings would be good too.
I think I need something like this[1].
Right now I get a CD from the bookstore[2], rip it to MP# format with RealPlayer. I save this MP3 in the default “rip from CD” format 192kbps stereo as the Original(tm). In Audacity I split the track intro Right & Left, delete the Right. I use the hardlimiter set to -3db on the entire track. I then use the Compression effect (take the defaults the first time through) to bring up the quiet parts. I then amplify the entire track (allowing clipping) until the waveform (in db mode) “looks right”. I save the file as a 22050bps mono MP3 and a Og Vorbis. The files then get loaded into Acoustica’s MP3 mixer to convert MP3’s to WMA’s and RealAudio files (with a plugin).
