GODCasting

GODCasting is really just the process of making MP3’s of sermons available via the podcast mechanism. Because of the large number of iPods and other MP3 players, podcasting has developed as a simple way to get content to the listener. You can load ipodder[1] (or something similar) on your PC, search for feeds and get content delivered to your PC automatically. Once you have the MP3’s on your PC, you can then transfer that content to your MP3 player via the mechanism that came with your player. I use iTunes, and have ipodder drop off the files in iTunes folders.
From the pastor’s perspective, you deliver the sermon, it’s transfered to digital media[2] (I get a tape from the church[3], use Microsoft’s Digital Plus Pack’s Analog Recorder and convert it from WMA to MP3. We also do Ogg Vorbis & real audio. These are normally available on the church’s[4] website as a link to download the file.) The trick is to develop what’s called an RSS feed. With a Database Driven Website[5] or blogging software like WordPress[6] the generation of the RSS Feed is nearly trivial.
Your listeners can then follow it with any number blog readers, I use[7] BlogLines[8].
